ESSAY WRITER CANADA

A practical guide to academic essay writing

Learn how to plan an academic essay, develop a thesis, use evidence, and revise your work for university study in Canada.

1. Read the question closely

Highlight task words such as analyse, compare, evaluate, and reflect. Check the marking rubric, word limit, learning outcomes, and required readings. Turn these into a short checklist before you research.

2. Build an outline around your thesis

Write a provisional answer to the question in one or two sentences. Give each body paragraph a clear purpose, supporting evidence, and an explanation of how it advances your argument. Revise your thesis if the evidence points in a different direction.

3. Read critically and keep source notes

Record author, date, title, publication details, and page numbers as you read. Separate quotations from your own summaries. Compare sources and assess their relevance instead of treating every published statement as equally strong evidence.

4. Revise before proofreading

First check that you have answered the question and supported your claims. Then improve paragraph order, transitions, and clarity. Proofread last, checking citations against your reference list and your institution’s current style guide.
